Obituary


Mary Isabel Clevenger Biermann, age 104, of Bloomington, died Wednesday morning at the Meadowood Health Pavilion. Born June 11, 1910, in Gomer, Ohio, she was the daughter of Roy Joseph and Nellie Mae (Garlock) Clevenger. Prior to moving to Bloomington, she resided in Gomer, Ohio; Hampton, Virginia; Cleveland, Ohio; and Mathews County, Virginia.


She was a homemaker and had worked as a teacher several years ago after receiving her certification in education.

She is survived by three grandchildren, Brian T. Biermann of Rocky River, Ohio, Heather Biermann Armetta of Bel Air, Maryland, and Jennifer Biermann McComas of Bel Air, Maryland; three great-grandchildren, Moira Folden, Adrianna Armetta and Emma McComas, all of Bel Air, Maryland; two nieces, Nancy Dickinson of Indianapolis and Mary Jane (Ron) VanHook of Bloomington; great-nephew, Greg (Kim) VanHook, of Spencer, Indiana; great-niece, Karen VanHook (Fred) McCain of Randleman, North Carolina; great-great-nieces, Elyse VanHook and Brittany VanHook, both of Bloomington; and one great-great-nephew, Grayson McCain, of Randleman, North Carolina.


She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Arnold E. Biermann; her son, Thomas C. Biermann; and her sister, Margaret Grace Clevenger Gilpatrick.


A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 30, at 2 p.m. at the Meadowood Retirement Community.


Entombment of her remains will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens in Bloomington.
