Obituary

Frances M. Hickman was born on a farm near Springville, Indiana on November 7, 1922. Her father, Carl Moore rode his horse four miles to get to a phone so
he could call a doctor. She was the firstborn child in a family of nine children born to Carl and Merle Moore. She left home for her first job when she was nine
years old; when a neighbor, a recent widow, needed help around the house and farm. She made .50 cents a week and room and board, this was good money

She made .50 cents a week and room and board, this was good money
early in the Depression, especially for a child. When she was twelve years old she moved to Indianapolis and began a lifetime career of care giving - from
small children to the elderly. She met the love of her life, Irvin Sissman and they were married in 1939. They had two children, Donna (Ray) and Dale Sissman.
Prior to his death in 1954 they loved to travel and made several trips to see the U.S. Frances and Irvin both were generous people giving a home at various
times to seven of her brothers and sisters and later she helped her grandchildren and their families. She was always willing to share with those in need. She
loved making jelly and jam and sharing it with her family and friends.

In 1955, she moved to Bloomington, Indiana and began working for Indiana University as a housekeeper and later as a cook for a fraternity. Later she worked
as a caregiver for elderly people.

In the early 1970's Frances married Jesse Hickman, he died in 1982.

Frances was a very loving, kind mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She was affectionally known as "Grandma Sugar"
because she had such a sweet, loving personality. She was very kind and generous to all who knew her. She loved her family and was loved by her family. She
made all of our lives warmer, brighter and better. She left us on Saturday, March 28, 2015 to join those who had passed on before her. She is survived by her children, Donna (James) Ray and Dale (Jean) Sissman, her sister, Pearl Patton, eleven grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren, and twenty-two great-great
grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Virgil Moore, Bessie Squeglia, John Moore, Nellie Walters, Frank Moore,
Edith Linthicum, and Ruby Henderson.

Visitation will be at Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, 4150 E. Third Street, Bloomington, Indiana on Monday, March 30, 2015 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on
Tuesday, March 31, 2015 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Burial will be at the Chambersville Cemetery immediately following the
